Best Amazon Prime Day Fashion Deals

Amazon Prime Day fashion finds

Life has been super busy lately, right? Sometimes things you intended to keep tabs on—in this case, Amazon Prime Day—just creep up on you. It’s this week (Oct. 13 and 14, beginning at 3 a.m. ET). While I don’t talk about sales holidays often on the blog, the pandemic has made online shopping the norm. So, I thought a quick post about Amazon Prime Day and successful shopping strategy might be helpful. As a style-focused blogger, I spend quite a bit of time on Amazon and can offer a few helpful hints – especially when it comes to the best Amazon Prime Day fashion deals.

Additionally, I have a reason to shop this year… Our coffee maker had a run-in with the little guy last week. The pot shattered into hundreds of pieces… giant mess, but fortunately no injuries! A full week without coffee has been rough, so I’m hoping to use Amazon Prime Day to replace our coffee pot. I also have my sights set on a DSLR or mirrorless camera.

  • Early Prime Day deals have Nikon cameras up to 39 percent off and selected Canon gear discounted as much as 50 percent.
  • For those interested in videography, DJI (a highly respected brand for drones and gimbals) will be having huge sales too.

I own the DJI Osmo Pocket and DJI Osmo 3. Both exceeded my expectations and helped elevate the quality of my videos. They give video content creators that smooth, cinematic look.

And of course, I am always hunting for Amazon fashion deals. Keep reading for a list of 10 Amazon fashions that are worth every penny (these are pieces I wear all the time).

So soft & cozy for fall! Comes in 6 other colors. Figure flattering too.

While Amazon stays mum on specific deals until the sale officially begins, some brands are already slashing prices significantly—up to 60 percent. As expected, you can find the best bargains on Amazon brands – Lark & Ro is my personal favorite (beautiful, feminine styles). Here are a few early markdowns get you started…

I’ll get to my top 10 Amazon finds below, but first let’s talk about exactly what this sale is and how to avoid common pitfalls. Back in my TV news days, I did quite a bit of consumer reporting. Consequently, I want to equip you with all the information you need to navigate the sale, while keeping a watchful eye on marketing tactics that encourage overspending.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

This two-day sale, exclusively for Prime members, slashes prices on all kinds of items. Tip: If you’re not a Prime member, you can join free for 30 days. However, you need to remember to cancel or you will be charged the $119 per year Prime membership fee. The sale covers everything from home décor/appliances, to tech devices, to beauty buys. Prime Day deals include lightning deals (which require fast action), spotlight deals, and sales that will last the full two days.

Let’s talk pitfalls, tips, and tricks…

  • Dodge impulse buys – make a list of the items you want!

Just like Black Friday, Amazon Prime Day is a massive marketing scheme designed to nudge us into buying on impulse [and springing for with items we don’t really need]. The allure of “lightning deals” and “limited time offers” can psychologically push us to buy something we hadn’t even considered purchasing. When you make a specific list, you cut impulse out of the equation. You can use Amazon’s Wishlist feature to organize the items you’d like to buy. Amazon will then notify you if any of those are featured as Prime Day deals.

  • Do some pre-sale research, especially for big ticket items

It may be advertised as a really good deal, but a reduced price doesn’t necessarily guarantee it is the best price. Make sure you do some comparison shopping ahead of time, especially for more expensive items. Take my DSLR camera. While I’d like to find one during this sale, when it comes to price reductions, I’m not going to take Amazon’s word for it! I have a list of prices from other retailers I will be using to cross check. Consumer advocates regularly warn shoppers that retailers/brands may increase an items “original price” during big sales, to make reductions look more enticing/larger.

  • Don’t forget about other retailers

October has become a really hot month for sales. To compete with Amazon, Target and Walmart are also slashing prices. Target’s “Deal Days” also hit on Oct. 13-14, while Walmart’s “Big Save” event is on now through Oct. 15. While Amazon will certainly be offering some great prices, you definitely should check other retailers too to ensure the best deal.

  • Use the Amazon app; Don’t only shop on your computer

I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of downloading retailer apps. I’ve got enough stuff on my phone already. But Amazon Prime Day is one of those occasions when an app can be really helpful. There are so many items involved in this sale, that the Amazon app can really help you stay organized and keep tabs on what is marked down and when that deal expires. You can enable push notifications on Prime Day or use the “Watch This Deal” feature to get reminders of when a “Lightning Deal” might be happening.

My 10 BEST Amazon Fashion Finds

See that face? That’s my “I’m in LOVE” with this dress face! The cut of this under $30 flirty number works wonders! It is supremely figure flattering. Cute with tights and boots for winter/fall or with heels in the summer. It hits me right around the knee (I’m 4’11). For those of you who are taller, you can expect a fit closer to the model above. It comes in other colors, but I wouldn’t order the pink (it’s very sheer and this dress isn’t lined). Sheerness isn’t a problem with the red.

This soft and cozy turtleneck (also available in white and gray) is the kind of basic knit you will live in during cooler months. It’s the perfect length to pair with leggings and provides a great deal of warmth. While it offers a relaxed fit, it won’t leave petite gals feeling like they are swimming in their sweater. I’m wearing size S/M for reference. The fabric is 100 percent acrylic, which adds to the cozy/warm factor.Amazon Prime Day Fashion Finds

Winter wedding? Holiday gathering? Formal event? The fabric, the construction, the fit of this dress is impeccable! I cannot believe they are selling it for $57. This is a quality garment and the skirt moves beautifully. You are guaranteed to feel like a princess. It comes in 5 other color varieties. I am wearing the S and usually wear a size 2 in brands like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Ann Taylor, or Banana Republic.

Relaxed and comfy, this boho-inspired maxi dress always brings a smile. It has a secondary lining to prevent sheerness and comes in multiple colors. It’s button-up with an elastic waist. Comes in multiple colors and is a really great option for fall. Just toss on a leather, suede or denim jacket. I’m wearing size S.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much use I’ve gotten out of these belts! You get 4 of them for $17.99. They add such sophistication to your look. I typically use them to add definition to bulkier sweaters or sophisticated jackets, like this beauty from Peach’s Fall 2020 collection. More than 2,000 people have rated – and adored – these belts. They also come in other color varieties.

Not only are these pumps cute, they feel good too. Normally, I shy away from buying footwear online. I’m always afraid shoes will be uncomfortable, but took a chance on these because the bowknot detail enchanted me. They didn’t disappoint. Available in black, pink and white, they fit true to size and are among the most comfortable heels I own.

Turns out BuzzFeed loves this one too… It was just featured as one of its “26 Pieces of Clothing You May Never Want to Take Off” with a photo of yours truly included. I laughed pretty hard when I discovered I had unwittingly hit BuzzFeed! But in all seriousness, this chunky cardigan has pockets and is that layering piece you will always want around. Pre-COVID, I kept it on the back of my office chair so I could always feel cozy. Temps fluctuate a lot in our building. Comes in tons of color variations.

This sweater dress has fall written all over it! It’s a lighter weight knit that offers great movement, without the unflattering cling you sometimes get with sweater dresses. I recently wore it in a video on my Instagram feed. So many of you were asking about it, but it was out of stock. Good news! It’s available again. Seriously, photos don’t do this one justice! Sizing is a bit weird. I’m wearing the 4-6 which equates to a size S. Make sure you refer to the seller’s size chart (i.e. the one on the left, under the garment photos), rather than Amazon’s general sizing chart.

Sadly, I do not have a good photo of these ankle boots. So, you’ll have to pop over to their Amazon listing to soak in the cuteness! These also come in black, brown, and pink. The stacked heel gives you lots of stability and they feel great on. They are ideal with jeans and the ankle tie knot adds just the right amount of fun.

Finally, the $15 straw clutch that goes with me on every vacation! Versatile, beautiful, and very packable, this is a bargain that you are sure to get your money out of. It can jazz up any outfit and offers that beachy cool vibe I love. Considering how often this gets stuffed in my suitcase, it has held up magnificently well.
